AMPLIFIERS:

PENDING SALE Sonny Junior 2: $1800.00 plus shipping. Original price $2195.00. Purchased April 1997. Minor tears in tweed on bottom. One tear in grill cloth. Has that tone Sonny is known for. I own a SJ 1960 Concert and the tone of the SJII is very similar, without the excessive volume. This amp is perfect for low to moderately loud gigs. For very loud gigs the amp can be mic'd for additional sound reinforcement.

All you Sonny Junior 2 players out there. I have been able to achieve competive volume by replacing the two 50 uFarad caps in the power tube circuit and by switch to groove tubes (5and 6's). The caps are the ones next to the power resisitors. Heat kills electronic components and finally one of mine blew up. Once I replaced the caps and used stronger power tubes, I was able to get great tone at large volumes on 3.5.

Sonny Junior Harmony 304A modified for harmonica: $300.00 plus shipping. (Paid $530.00 plus shipping.) This amp has been modified for harp. The amp is extremely quiet and was serviced by Sonny's amp tech. The original speaker was replaced with a Rola 10" Alnico. This small amp packs a lot of volume and Classic Chicago tone.

Sonny Junior Silvertone/Knight PA head modified for harmonica: $350.00 plus shipping. Very cool one of a kind amp. The preamp circuit was modified to match the Fender Champ amp. Little Walter often used PA heads to support his remarkable dynamics and tone. The head uses one 6L6 power tube.

SOLDKalamazoo Model 2:  $240.00 plus shipping. Do not know if you have searched eBay recently, but these Kalamazoo Model 2's sell quickly to those harp players with discriminating taste for tone. Sonny was the first contemporary player to use these amps to achieve that vintage Chicago blues tone. One could use this amp as their primary amp for all gigs simply by micing it. I have two and always use one for my low volume electric gigs. Serious tone and volume for a 5 watt amp. This one has been serviced to replace the sectional cap, add a 3-prong plug, add a heavy duty new power switch, add an external speaker switch. The original TONE control is intact. Adding a new power switch does not require removing the tone control.

MICROPHONES:

Vintage American Biscuit--CM element: $240.00 plus shipping. These mics are much rarer than the Astatic biscuit mics and are much easier to hold in your hands.

SOLDVintage Shure 533A: $165.00 includes shipping. Fritz the mic man was one of the first to popularize these mics. The 533's have fat, deep tone and break up really nice. Excellent choice for those players who prefer a vocal type mic, but want that crystal mic tone. Vintage screw on adapter cable included.

Vintage EV 638: $165.00 plus shipping. The 638 provides that Little Walter Chess sound. No wonder, because EV used to provide free mics to the Chess recording studios. The tone is fat and compressed.

Vintage EV 605: $165.00 plus shipping. Another great choice for fat and compressed tone. I have never found a mic better suited for funk style blues. The 605 is easy to hold and cup.

Vintage Shure Small Body Bullet--CM element: $299.99 does not include shipping or guitar cable adapter. The SSBB mic is perfect for players with small hands. This one has a hot, vintage CM element.
